Internet of Things (IoT)

Decentralized clinical trials (DCTs) offer a promising solution by enabling remote monitoring and intervention methods. However, existing DCT platforms lack integration with advanced medication delivery systems and robust data management solutions specifically tailored for research.

SixSense Labs, a Maryland based company, develops a low-resource Internet of Things (IoT) platform for in-home health care which addresses these critical DCT gaps by offering:

  • Remote Medication Delivery to overcome reliance on self-reported medication use with a proprietary nebulizer for precise dosing and real-time data collection.

  • Remote Health Monitoring to reduce the need for scheduled visits and provide real-time monitoring for correlation with the medicine intake.

  • IoT Software Development Kit (SDK) which allows other companies to add their devices to enhance our collaborative platform.

  • Enhanced Data Security which utilizes a dual-schema cloud database with blockchain technology for secure Personal Identifiable Information (PII) storage and anonymized data sharing, fostering collaboration and potential monetization for future research endeavors.

  • Advanced Data Analytics: Leverage machine learning to identify patterns in vast datasets, predict potential relapse risk factors, and personalize treatment regimens to optimize outcomes.

Innovation

Our platform stands out from the crowd by harnessing a pioneering combination of cutting-edge technologies – IoT, Blockchain, and Machine Learning/AI. This synergistic approach empowers us to deliver a groundbreaking solution unlike anything currently available in the market.  At the core of this innovation lies our unique ultrasonic nebulizer, a medication delivery device seamlessly integrated with the IoT ecosystem. Together, they form a one-of-a-kind system specifically designed to revolutionize DCTs and drug research.  This approach fosters a comprehensive and secure platform architecture, detailed in Figure 1 and further elaborated upon below.

Prototype nebulizers and commercial wearables receive parameters, deliver medication, and collect health metrics from a Decentralized Clinical Trials (DCT) participant.
